And here it comes….tooth number three! We just recooperated from tooth number two to discover that a top tooth is starting to break through. About a week ago, Lilly rejected being fed by the spoon so I scrambled and overcooked anything I could think of so she’s been self feeding for a few days and it is going really well. Now, if I could only get her to drink from a cup without any help!
Lilly is still pulling up whenever a ledge presents itself but no steps without hand holding have taken place.

Wil thinks Lilly said “papa” the other day when he was with her. That may be but as of yet, I haven’t heard anything more then babbling…really cute babbling but nothing with purpose quite yet.
And as for Sylus, he is healing quickly and should be back to his old self in no time.

Lillian Roane Keith turned 9 months old yesterday. She celebrated her “I’ve been out as long as I was in” day with some baked apple chunks. I tried to take her picture like I usually do and, well…..

What’s she doing these days? Welp, not our taxes or making her own food or even writing thank you cards (yet). She’s right on track for her baby age. She is still babbling and teething on that second tooth. She’s still pulling up and starting to get daring about letting go of things which results in a lot of bumps and bruises. The robber in her class, she likes to take the toys away from the other babies but they’re all cool with it so…..um, we’ll teach her manners later. She has learned that vegetables are not as yummy as fruit and dinner time has been a battle but I sneak in those veggies as much as I can. Getting dressed, getting undressed, diaper changes…those have all become a wrestling match, the winner usually me but after many tap outs and rounds. I deserve a new belt but a pretty one, not a WWF model.
The best part of right here, right now is how cuddly she has been with me. A head on my shoulder, a rub of the eyes on my sleeve…..I can really feel the mother baby connection and it expands my heart.
So, after our failed night time photo shoot, I tried yet again the next day:

Oh well…..
*** Sylus is not in the pictures because he is having surgery! We miss him…….

The tree is up, the lights are on and I get to torcher Wil with Christmas song(s)
Lilly put on her Christmas PJ’s and discovered ornaments and then woke up to a snow filled sky. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

The photo above is a good example of how Lilly greets myself and Wil on a daily basis. She likes to ham it up a bit and usually includes a little heavy breathing or screaming with her big grin.
Lately, Lilly has been mastering taking off only one side of her diaper. I dred the day that she learns how to undo the other side!

I managed to get a picture of Lilly’s tooth BUT it was when she was not so happy about eating her veggies. None-the-less, introducing tooth:

Can you see it? Right there in the front? Well, I promise you it is there and it was worth every tough moment we went through to get it. On to tooth number two which is making camp right next to tooth number one.
Lilly has been pulling up to anything that is her size these days. She hasn’t quite gotten enough courage or enough stability to let go of the objects but she loves this new freedom.

I just love the holidays. What is there not to love really? Food, family, love, decorations, food, blankets, lights, food…….The Thomas side of the family made there way over the river and around the rock slides to Lookout Mountain for Lilly’s very first Thanksgiving.

Lilly is not pictured here because she was napping for a good chunk of the eating part of the day. We headed to the mall on Black Friday and then on Saturday, we went Christmas tree hunting and then Dad and I went hiking around the mountain.

Lilly is getting BOTH of her her two front bottom teeth at the same time. It is making for some interesting meal times. I keep telling myself it is just a phase.
Nana took on Lilly duty while she was here and I went hiking without baby and actually slept a whole night without getting up. That is a gift that cannot be equaled.
Lilly loved seeing cousin Rachel who was busy and exciting the whole time she was here. Rachel is going to be a huge help to Tricia when her new sibling arrives in March.
At church today, our family was honored with the lighting of the first candle of advent. Lilly was so cute and would “sing” when the congregation sang. She definitly holds more hearts then just mine…….

It has been a normal kind of week including the fact that Wil has been super busy. Lilly’s tooth cannot be seen quite yet but I can feel it in there and hear it on glass when she’s practicing her drinking skills. Teething is no walk in the park and makes for one grumpy, hard to please Lilly.
She’s gotten very fast with crawling. I’ll put her down one place and when I turn around, she’s at a whole different place usually playing with a dog toy (yuck!) or pulling the toilet paper off the roll. The other day she migrated over to the wine rack. I looked at her and removed her hand from the bottles and said firmly, “no.” Well, she looked at me with a puzzled look then put her hands back on the bottles with a huge smile crossing her face!
We have already started Christmas shopping and I think she’s like me, we love the crowds. Now that she can sit in the carts, it’s fun to watch her as she watches everything go by. I have to watch her though because before I know it, her hands are tugging at the merchandise.

We are looking forward to Lilly’s first Thanksgiving.

What do they put in baby food? Miracle Grow? It sure seems that way and especially the past few days, not only do we see the bump rising on Lilly’s gums where her first tooth will soon be making its breakthrough (and we were alerted to this bump by lots of tears and grumpiness, especially at meal time) but, Wil went in to check on Lilly during one of her naps and this is was met his gaze:

At first, she looked a little confused and a lot curious. Then, once seeing our reactions, she seemed pretty proud of herself and started to grin her still toothless grin.

We know this is leading down the walking road very quickly but until then, she has become a master crawler and one of her favorite places to go to is the bathroom tile floor where she proceeds to slap it with her chubby little hand. She must like the sound and the feel of the tile so I have been cleaning bathrooms even more often then usual these days.

So, what do we do when we are all sick and it’s raining outside?
Lilly practices her standing skills

And her walking skills
And her super cute, hanging with dad, skills……….

Lilly is 8 months old today! The picture for today is of her getting ready to take a nap because she has a cold. In fact, everyone in the house is a bit under-the-weather.
At 8 months, Lilly is trying her hand at some more finger foods. Bananas and teething crackers have been added to the cheerios menu. Sitting up has become second nature and she can get to that position from tummy or back. She is still army crawling everywhere she goes. It seems that she is trying to straighten her legs when she wants to get up. I am not sure what road this will take us down but we’ve been helping her stand holding onto things that are at her level.
“dadadadada, mamamamama, woooo”, Lilly has become extremely vocal the past few days focusing on the classic dada and mama. I could have sworn she said “Uh Oh” the other day but I might have been trying to hear it in her sounds.

Tooth Watch 2009 has commenced. We think she might be teething. We feel no bumps but drooling has increased and this cold could be a result of the oncoming chompers. I’ll miss that toothless grin…….
Wil put up a safety gate at the top of stairs and we have been putting the plastic plugs in the outlets, looking for any cords dangling from curtains, and keeping everything we can off the floor. Her favorite thing to do in our bedroom is to take the socks out of the sock bin but not before putting each one in her mouth. Nothing like putting wet socks on in the morning!
